Are Marketing Managers rising to the challenge of Online Marketing
October 17, 2009 by admin
In the existing economic situation it is widely know that most companies are being forced to slash costs in order to stay safe. One of the first budgets to be reduced is often the marketing budget as the impact of reducing it is less obvious than lots of the others. The results are often only seen later down the line and to cash strapped organizations it is frequently the easiest decision to make.
Only the most efficient marketing can therefore be undertaken but are marketing professionals aware that the more cost effective option is Online Marketing? As web purchases continue to grow enourmously in the vast majority of product areas this must surely be the best area for most to spotlight their concentration, and any reduced marketing budget on.
However marketing professionals are not likely to be skilled in the new role of search engine optimization, often the most cost effective way to market your products on line. They are more likely to be using expensive and sometimes less than productive “pay per click” services if they have even considered increasing customers from their website at all.
One option they may think about at this stage is to confer with their web designer, a mothod that may sound, on the face of it, quite sensible. However the web designer is in general very focused on the technical performance of the website itself and not used to taking into account the needs of a customer and how they may be brought to the site. Their skills lie in their coding not in client behavior analysis. So other options for the Marketing Professionals are to either procure the SEO service from one of the Search Engine Optimisation Company providers marketing themselves on the internet of course, or alternatively bring the skills into the company.
There are some very good search engine optimization courses available now and the organization should consider either putting one of it’s current workforce through such a course or alternatively taking on a new member of staff who has equipped themselves with the skills in optimization via such a course.
Investment in training in this difficult climate may not at first seem rational but taking into account the huge benefits that can be achieved by good Search Engine Placement results at relatively low costs it may be that there is soon a large demand for people trained in this new skill. This in turn could open up new career opportunities for a lot of people who would not have considered the internet a suitable setting for their new role.
